Friends of Edgewood Recreation Center

Neighbors working together turning a recreation center into a community center

Projects

The Friends of Edgewood Recreation Center welcomes ideas and help with ways to improve the current recreation center, increase community support and use of the center, and work towards building a new center that will better serve the community.  Below is a list of the current/ongoing projects implemented by the Friends of Edgewood Recreation Center and a list of potential projects and ideas.  If you want to get involved or have more ideas or suggestions to add to the list please let us know!  You can use the contact form or come to the monthly meetings or cleanups.

Edgewood Neighborhood Cleanup - Started a monthly neighborhood cleanup for Edgewood in December 2008.  The group meets at the Edgewood Recreation Center at 10:30 a.m. the first Saturday of every month and picks up trash and debris from around the recreation center and neighborhood.  Everyone is encouraged and welcome to join in the effort to keep our neighborhood clean!

Landscaping Improvements/Additions to Edgewood Recreation Center -  On June 5, 2010 in addition to the neighborhood cleanup the group planted flowers in the planter in the front of the Edgewood Recreation Center.

Community Garden at the Edgewood Recreation Center - On June 5, 2010 a large group of neighbors using equipment, plants and supplies provided through the DC Department of Parks and Recreation planted a small garden of lettuce and tomatoes.
